Barrett's Grill Hunt Valley

It is not often I am able to say I am excited to write a review. On Saturday we celebrated our wedding anniversary and decided to use a gift card we received for Barretts. Never had gone there and not having an feedback from friends or family we did not honestly know what to expect. First, most restaurants do not take reservations for two, they do. Upon arrival and checking in at the front desk, we were greeting with a smile by one of the staff and promptly but not hastened to a table.The waiter came over greeted us with a smile, and asked if we would like to start with a beverage. We asked for water, and letter ordered cocktails. The water was better than tap which may mean it is filtered. The cocktails were fast and refreshing (apple martini and my wife had blushing Mamosa. My wife is lactose and gluten intolerant, so when asked if her entree (scallop risotto) with minimum lactose (anything with milk) and the chef would ensure minimum gluten as well. I ordered the the chicken pesto pasta. The manager came over "John" I believe, just before our meal were to come out and advised as my wife's meal was leaving the kitchen he realized they have put the milk type sauce on the plate, so the chef is having the meal remade due to this error. Both were fantastic, by both taste and size of the entree. Tasty and nothing left to take home yet filling at the same time. We rate Barrett's Bar and Grill Restaurant 5 out of 5 stars. The attentiveness of the waiter was great but not over baring. The fact that the kitchen staff has that much attention to detail is incredible and rarely hear of and the atmosphere was perfect. The one negative was we were not able to order a mudslide for dessert as the bar did not have a blender. If that is the only negative I am OK with it. We will be back next weekend as we will have some family visiting. When you come right down to it here are the bullet points: POSITIVES -Price: mid range to high -Atmosphere: pleasant music playing softly and other diners were not loud due to the acoustics and set up (most likely) -Staff: attentive but not over baring or under -food fantastic and tasty -cocktails: very well mixed and fast from the bar -Kitchen takes pride in their work NEGATIVES -Bar had no blender
